The eclectic mix of shops and upscale boutiques, plus major retailers makes for great shopping in San Diego. Start your adventure in the Gaslamp Quarter, located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Sixteen and a half blocks of ethnic and cutting edge fashions cozy right up to more established places such as Urban Outfitters. You can by a dress, a skateboard and a cigar all within the same small area. Seaport Village is a shopping, entertainment and dining complex located along the San Diego Bay. It has a century-feel in decor and style, offering up four miles cobblestone pathways plus fountains and ponds and great landscaping. Here you will find more than 55 shops, great restaurants and plenty of sidewalk cafes to sit at and take in the surroundings. Take the two mile Coronado Bridge over to the Hotel Del Coronado and check out the Shops at the Del. The hotel has a history of hosting famous people from diplomats to movie stars (think Marilyn Monroe) take in the atmosphere as you browse through more than 20 upscale specialty shops.

San Diego Outlet Malls, Stores & Shopping Centers

The Plaza del Pasado is located in Old Town State Historic Park and is a great place for great authentic food and a good time. Step back in to the mid 1800's as you take in the festive atmosphere and culturally distinctive shops. You may even learn a little bit about San Diego's history while you shop. San Diego also offers up great outlet shopping. The Las Americas Premium Outlets is the area's largest premium outlet mall, with over 125 stores nestled in elegant surroundings. The outlet is located only 1000 feet from the International Border, just south of the city proper. Westfield Shopping town Horton Plaza is six and half blocks of open-air shopping. Besides shopping, there is a movie theater, restaurants and a live theater venue, plus three major department stores and a food court that takes advantage of the five staggered levels on which the whole Plaza sits. For your large retailer fix, head to Fashion Valley Shopping Center, where you will be happy to find Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordy's. There is even a Tiffany 7 Co. to keep you shopping. Plenty of dining and a movie theater make this location a great place to spend the entire day.
